The Seeds of a Movement: How the 1999 Yoder’s Event Launched Lancaster’s Hemp Industry
Business, Shawn House

The April 16th 1999, a hemp event at Yoder’s Restaurant in New Holland, PA, is documented as a pivotal meeting that gathered international experts and local leaders to discuss the, then, potential for a legal hemp industry. While public video archives of the event are unavailable, primary accounts include an August 24, 1999, Lancaster Insider article featuring organizer Shawn House

Invited Jean Laprise from Canada, John Howell from NYC & the President of New Holland Ford who couldn't come but he sent his two top engineers.
